An opportunity has arisen for a Medical Laboratory Assistant Practitioner (Band 3) within the Blood Sciences Endocrine Laboratory. The position provides an ideal opportunity to gain experience of working in a diagnostic laboratory, working alongside HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists in providing an analytical service. We are looking for someone that has laboratory experience and is keen to learn and willing to contribute to our department. Full training will be provided. The Endocrine Lab, performs investigations into diabetic care management, gut disorders, tumour markers, and a variety of endocrine abnormalities. You would also be working alongside the Trisomy Screening Team which performs investigations to detect a variety of foetal conditions using results from biochemical markers in maternal serum and other factors. This is a substantive post.
Performing a range of laboratory tests and equipment maintenance under the direction of HCPC Registered BMS staff.
Entry of data into the hospital computer systems.
Sorting and preparation of clinical and research samples for analysis.
Maintain clinical records in relation to activities carried out.
The work involves processing of human body fluids (blood, urine and faeces) and occasional handling of hazardous chemicals.
Staff to work flexibly in reflection of service needs this may include working outside of the core laboratory hours.
Staff are to maintain and promote the professional image of CUH.
