Location: Shropshire House, London
Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full Time/Permanent. Service open between 07:00 to 17:00 Mon to Fri. Candidates will be expected to work Saturday shifts on a rotational basis for which there is additional payment

About the Role
We have a brilliant opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Assistant in Cellular Pathology Department – Histology, who will assist the laboratory team, which includes scientific and medical team.
The post holder will perform duties as part of the Histology Team under the supervision of Senior Biomedical Scientists, and will participate in the weekly rotation of laboratory areas, including the core laboratory, specimen dissection and specimen reception.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To receive, quality control and booking in of Histology samples
- To assist medical and scientific staff in specimen dissection and sample management according with HTA, RCPath and Department guidelines.
- To carry out equipment maintenance and environmental reading according with Department’s Health & Safety rules.
- To help with consumable stock control, including the collection of goods delivered, as required and the restocking of working areas from storage areas.
- To assist all staff in maintaining high scientific and quality standards within the section and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and UKAS 15189 standard.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a laboratory
- Effective communication
- Strong team player
- Ability to be flexible with hours & duties where needed
- High level of concentration and work effectively under pressure
