
Medical Laboratory Assistant - Blood Sciences Hereford, England
Job description
Medical Laboratory Assistants work closely with scientific and medical staff in the provision of the pathology services at Hereford County Hospital. The Blood Sciences Department processes in excess of 1500 blood/urine samples per day. As up to 80% of clinical decisions are heavily influenced by the results of pathology investigations, accuracy of information and rapid turnaround of tests is crucial to high quality patient care.
The post holder will have a primary role in the pre-analytical preparation of specimens in the laboratory, including specimen receipt and data entry of patient and test information into the laboratory IT system. Additionally, the post holder will deal with front line enquiries to the department and perform other housekeeping and clerical duties.
Working hours may vary depending on service requirements with most shifts being 7.5 hours long between 8:30 am and 9:30pm Monday to Friday and half day cover on Saturdays .
