SYNLAB UK & Ireland have extensive experience of working in partnership with the NHS to deliver and improve pathology services through its existing pathology joint ventures - including Southwest Pathology Services (SPS).
Our team at SPS have been fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to healthcare within Somerset for 10 years and we have a new job opportunity for a Band 3 Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the Kiestra Project within our Microbiology department based at our HUB in Taunton.
This role is fixed term for 16 weeks with a start date of August 1st, 2023.
Hours: 37.5hrs / 08:30am-5pm / Mon-Sun
Responsibilities:
- To prepare and process clinical specimens for Microbiology testing.
- To input data onto the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- To work within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times.
- To perform all designated duties in accordance with local working practices, to maintain high personal standards and conform to Health and Safety regulations.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- NVQ3, or equivalent level of knowledge - a minimum requirement of 3 GCSEs to include English, Maths and at least one Science subject.
- Good degree of accuracy & numeracy.
- Experience in working within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of levels of staff within the laboratory and user organisations.
- Good developed interpersonal and team working abilities.
