• Different sample types and suitability

• Test types and requirements,

• Urgency of specific tests/samples

• Understanding the Meditech computer system and test mnemonics

• Health & Safety awareness

PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

• Sample requirement issues

• Prioritisation of requisitions

• Identification of samples

• Dealing with queries

SPHERE OF INFLUENCE

• Communication with Consultants, Clients and hospital staff

• Liasing with other sections of the laboratory

RISK AND RESPONSIBILITY

• Handling biological fluids

• Accurate transcription of requests from all sources into Meditech computer

• Maintain confidentiality

• Maintain adequate stocks of reagents and consumables

• Work unsupervised within the department
