Job description
- JOB SUMMARYA Medical Assistant provides clinical support to providers and patients to assist in the management of quality patient care. Performs vital signs, documents medications/drug allergies, and escorts patients to appropriate room for examination or treatment. Functions as a liaison between provider, patient and staff to expedite patient flow and quality care. Assists professional staff in providing safe and effective patient care in accordance with current policy and procedure. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment and examination of patients. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety of needs of the patient and family. Gathers and documents pertinent information in the electronic health record as necessary. Demonstrates positive customer service and co-worker relationships. Maintains patient confidentiality.
- EDUCATION
- Completion of medical assistant program or comparable training in a medical facility.
- LICENSURE
- Certification preferred (CMA)
- EXPERIENCE
- Clinical Experience in a medical facility.
- Prior work experience in a physician’s office or ambulatory surgery setting is preferred.
- CERTIFICATION
- N/A
- COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
- Must be or become familiar with the hospital computer system.
- Minimal typing skills required.
- JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess good oral communication skills.
- Must be able to communicate with patients, all hospital staff, physicians and office staff both on the telephone and directly.
- Must demonstrate good reasoning ability and demonstrate cognitive thought processes for problem solving as related to the scope of duties and responsibilities.
