USFTGP Taleo Facility Profile:
University of South Florida Tampa General Physicians (USFTGP) was created through an advanced affiliation between The University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital to provide advanced care to patients and their families throughout Florida. Specialties include cardiology, endocrinology, hepatology, organ transplantation, pediatrics, primary care, neurology, OBGYN, neurosurgery & orthopedics.
Works under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician. Assists staff, providers, residents and medical students with patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks using a team based approach in providing patient care. Responsible for appointment scheduling, diagnostic testing and medical record management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the care services. Conveys a positive image of USF Health. May be assigned to specific medical specialty (e.g., surgery, cardiology, neurology, etc.) to help with patient care related to that specialty or may be expected to cross-cover multiple specialties. Note: Must successfully demonstrate competencies within job position.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Certification/Registration as a CMA or RMA through one of the national certifying organizations required. BLS/AED certification is required and must be maintained; demonstrated competency within 90 days required.
Experience: Experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare facility preferred.
Business Skills: Knowledge of basic organizational tasks and patient care management skills with demonstrated specialty competencies. Ability to recognize and report abnormal symptoms of patient conditions. Ability to administer medication injections as ordered, within scope of your practice. Phlebotomy skills preferred, demonstrated competency required within 90 days. Aseptic technique preferred, demonstrated competency required within 90 days. Adept at electronic medical record and proficient in computer skills, including Windows and MS Office.
Other: Employees need to approach care as a team and help patients coordinate across all elements of the healthcare system. The role of the MA in this team is to collect patient information about their healthcare status and socio-economic status and document any barriers to care in the medical chart. MA’s also are empowered to be preventive health champions of their team and enact standing orders. Duties could also include day-to-day completion of follow-up tasks for the patients seen with your providers. * Requirements reflect the minimum level necessary to be eligible for this position.
