Health and Social Care Assistant

Job Description
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in maintaining a safe working environment for self, service users, carers
- Conveys relevant information and receives feedback from Senior Nurse / GP’s
- Carry out duties in line with the homes policies and procedures
- Act as a keyworker to specific service users
- Work in accordance with the national minimum care standards and co-operate with any inspection process
- Promote choice, dignity, privacy, respect and independence to all service users
- Work in line with service users care plans and assessments
- To provide personal care and assist with personal hygiene, dressing, continence management and eating and drinking
- Make beds and undertake cleaning of commodes, urinals, bed pans, bowls and bed tables
- Complete written records required by the home
- Attend and participate in supervision, appraisal and staff meetings as required by the national minimum care standards
- Undertake relevant training as required by the national minimum care standards
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, service users and their families
- Dealing with clinical waste
- Acts as a chaperone for service users as required, preserving the service user’s dignity.
- At all times observes infection control procedures to protect self, service user and colleagues.
- Awareness and responsibility for the health and safety of the home, service users, colleagues and yourself
- Wear appropriate uniform when on duty

COVID-19 considerations:
Infection control procedures in place, ppe provided, fortnightly testing in place and barrier nursing of all new admissions are undertaken for 14 days.
