ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This is not an exhaustive list of all duties/responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned)
This position will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with an hour lunch break on each day.
Administrative/Clerical
- Greet patients/visitors
- Answer phones/schedule appointments
- Fill out and submit insurance forms
- Establish and maintain patient charts
- File, update, keep Medical Records
Clinical
- Prepare/maintain examination rooms
- Administer injections
- Assist LMP during examinations
- Schedule/report laboratory work
- Maintain inventory and order medications
- Coordinate with LMP to obtain appropriate prescription medication for patients
- Possess knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, laboratory techniques, clinical procedures, and pharmaceutical principles
- Must be customer service oriented
- Ability to use medical equipment, computers, medical and office software
- Ability to multi-task, manage time, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure
- Maintain standards of confidentiality of Lifeways’ clients and records
- Perform all work duties and activities in compliance with Lifeways, Oregon Administrative Rules, OSHA and HIPAA/FERPA regulations
Required:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant course
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Valid driver’s license
- Must pass a criminal background check
Preferred:
- American Association Medical Assistants (AAMA) certification or American Medical Technology (AMT) registration within one year of hire
Required Physical Demands
- Is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to use common office machines (i.e., computer, copier, telephone, etc.)
Work Environment
Work is 90% office setting, 10% field; the work may be stressful; the noise level is moderate to loud; may be exposed to airborne pathogens; use of keyboard & computer (potential repetitive hand motion and eye strain)
