Indiana Nephrology & Internal Medicine, P.C. is currently seeking an MA prepared to meet the challenge of providing the best quality of patient care at our Richmond location.
Clinical duties/back office: rooming patients, medication review, lab result review, patient call backs, prior authorizations, office visit prep, data entry, RX refills and BP checks. Must be able to manage answering phones. Cross over Front Office/Clerical duties include: Checking patients in/out, scheduling appointments, collecting co-payments, and scanning. Must be dependable, organized, and have good communication skills. Previous EMR experience preferred. Acumen/ Epic EMR experience a plus.
Duties:
- Responsible for answering all incoming calls
- Responsible for assigned providers clinic prep, lab results and call backs
- Rooming Patients (review medications and obtain vitals)
- Triage
- Welcome all patients, exhibiting excellent customer service skills
- Verify insurance & personal information with patient
- Collect co-payments, pre-payments, account balances
- Ensure that chart/patient is HIPAA compliant
- Verify proper referrals are completed and documented for patient visit
- Monitor office flow to ensure patients are taken care of promptly
- Schedule follow-up appointments and any required diagnostic testing
- Cover reception area at all times during the normal business hours
- Medication and Radiology Authorizations
- Data Entry, scanning and faxing
- Charting and documentation
- Travel to satellite offices
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing or medical assisting course.
- 1 + years of experience working in a healthcare practice, medical office or hospital
- Excellent Customer Service Skills & Presentation
- Good communication & language skills
- High level of professionalism
- Strong Critical Thinking
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
- Requires working knowledge of medical terminology
- Good computer & problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact with physicians, providers, and patients in a very fast paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems and software applications (Epic/Acumen), including Microsoft Office Suite
