We are seeking a talented and experienced individual to join our team as a Public Relations and Media Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for creating compelling content, managing media relationships, and enhancing our brand presence in the multifamily rental market. Responsibilities:
- Write and edit press releases that are concise, accurate, and engaging
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and industry experts
- Research, report, and source information to create credible and well-written stories
- Transform complex data into personalized and digestible content for our readers
- Utilize SEO writing techniques to optimize content for search engines
- Conduct interviews with officials and individuals to gather insights for stories
- Stay up to date with news and trends in the rental and housing market
- Collaborate with the marketing team to manage the editorial calendar
- Assist in creating content-sharing partnerships with other companies
- Respond promptly and professionally to media inquiries
- Update media database and contact information
- Utilize social media platforms effectively to promote our content
- Demonstrate proficiency in using Excel, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
- Contribute ideas for stories about the rental market at national, provincial, and city levels
- Capture high-quality photos when necessary
- Maintain attention to detail and organize tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent writing skills that are concise, coherent, and easily understood
- Proficiency in research, reporting, and proper sourcing of information and data
- Ability to interpret and distill data into compelling stories for readers
- Familiarity with SEO writing techniques and the ability to produce copy quickly
- Comfortable interviewing various sources and writing news stories, features, and analyses
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with sources, colleagues, and management
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and working well in a team environment
- Knowledge of the Canadian housing and renting markets
- Familiarity with AI technology
- Self-motivated and proactive mindset, always seeking to learn and contribute
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage tasks independently
- Able to speak with news agencies and other sources during irregular hours such as evenings and weekends
- A degree or diploma in Journalism, Public Relations or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years workplace experience in Journalism, Print Media, or Public Relations
- Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
- 50%: Editing rent reports, writing and editing press releases, and handling media requests
- 15%: Staying up to date on housing and renting news, market research, and analysis
- 15%: Building and nurturing relationships with media professionals, industry experts, and organizations
- 10%: Collaborating with team members on content ideas and managing freelancers
- 10%: Monitoring media mentions, conducting administrative duties, and assisting with various tasks
