Summary
Responsible for coordinating, planning and leading content expansion for the organization’s website. Provides tactical development and execution of project specific communications strategies and messages. Creates a wide variety of written material, stays informed and helps integrate new communication and digital trends. Assists in the development, launch, planning and execution of company-focused public events and programming, as well as logistics and measurement. Serves as a company media spokesperson and also proactively works to generate positive media opportunities for the company.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Directly or through others, the incumbent:
- Serves as administrator for company website and subsites. Creates new pages, oversees approval of updates by editors and oversees consistency in branding and web design.
- Develops, writes and edit articles for intranet and “The Wire.”
- Oversees maintenance, login permissions and updates to Oncor’s Super Safe Kids and brand standards websites.
- Participate in the on-call media relations rotation schedule.
- Coordinate vendors and internal resources for successful execution of public events and news media opportunities. Tracks results and measurements upon completion of projects.
- Manages project budgets.
- Develops and executes programs to communicate the company’s position on a broad range of topics.
- Assists with Public Safety Outreach programs.
- Develops internal network for information gathering and expert support.
- Develops ideas for proactive news public relations opportunities, social media and successfully generates positive news placements or positive public consumption.
- Maintains and catalogues new additions and current assets in the Oncor Archive.
Education, Experience, & Skills
- College degree in advertising, journalism, communications or a related field preferred, or 3-5 years of media or public relations communications experience, preferably with experience in large corporate or agency environment
- Strong communicator with demonstrated writing proficiency
- Project management skills, including decision and judgment skills
- Ability and comfort in meeting with senior managers and executives to discuss and plan company activities
- Flexible and nimble enough to respond to changing media and communications opportunities
Preferred background and knowledge:
- Knowledge of energy and/or competitive businesses beneficial
- Graphic design and website administration experience beneficial
- Proven ability to research and apply trends in the news to communications strategy
- Relationships with news media and other communications professionals beneficial
- Bilingual expertise beneficial
Measures of Success
- Creation of timely written content for external and internal sites. Also, develops strategic messaging for projects and events.
- In conjunction with subject matter experts, develops strategic opportunities and key messages on issues.
- Comfortable managing relationships with senior managers and executives to help communicate company initiatives.
