Job description
Closing date: Midday on Thursday 3 August 2023Interviews: Friday 18 August 2023
CPRE, the countryside charity, is looking for an experienced media relations specialist, who
can build on our media profile as a leading influencer.
The countryside is one of the nation’s most valued assets – it’s where many people feel most
alive and plays a vital role in improving our mental and physical health, not to mention
tackling the climate emergency. CPRE, the countryside charity wants to connect more people with
the countryside to ensure that everyone can benefit. This role is an opportunity to play an
important part in achieving that.
As media lead, you will be responsible for developing and delivering media strategies and
plans, and generating coverage in press, online and broadcast that helps drive our influencing
work while also broadening our appeal and helping us reach a wider range of audiences. You will
already have experience of developing and delivering media strategies, plans and generating
large amounts of national coverage and will be happy in giving advice and direction to senior
staff. We are looking for someone with a real passion and energy for generating quality media
coverage, helping tell the human stories that underpin our campaigning work. You’ll be willing
and able to work across teams and with colleagues across the CPRE network of local groups.
You will be part of a new Communications team, reporting to the head of that team, but working
closely with campaigns, policy and fundraising colleagues across the organisation. However, you
will also work particularly closely with senior roles such as the CEO and Director of Policy,
Campaigns and Communications to get our key messages out to opinion formers.
CPRE places high value on equality. We treat everyone with respect and consideration because we
know it’s the right thing to do. We also know that diverse teams make much better decisions,
are more creative and more stimulating to work in. So, if you join us, you will be able to help
us put equality, the environment and diversity at the centre of everything we do. We hope you
like the sound of the job and will take the time to apply!
To apply
Candidates should read the candidate information pack and job and person specification below
then complete the application form (CVs will not be accepted). Please make sure you address the
criteria outlined in the job and person specification; failing to do so will mean you will be
unlikely to be shortlisted. Please send your completed application to [email protected] by the
closing date.
