Media Relations Manager
London
As a Barclays Media Relations Manager, you will be responsible for developing an external communications strategy and approach, delivering against the Bank’s Strategic objectives and focused on the theme of showing the bank’s support for Businesses in the UK. You will be promoting, protecting and defending the Bank and managing the delivery of external communications activity across a range of topics.

What will you be doing?
- Working as a proactive member of the integrated Corporate Communications team, cultivating a centre of excellence for external communications
- Developing and driving the creation and promotion of strategic work to influence and build advocacy with external stakeholders critical to the future success of the bank
- Channelling engagement to advise and execute content across all forms of external communications including media, digital, experiential and events
- Developing and fostering relationships with key journalists, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and tracking impact against the delivery of Barclays Strategic objectives
- Driving reputation risk mitigation and issues management, identifying potential issues, collaborating with colleagues to minimise impact
- Being responsible for line managing and overseeing colleagues, providing guidance and nurturing development
- Managing external PR agency partners, inspiring performance and maintaining accountability for delivery and budgets
- Extensive experience across a range of communications disciplines in a large corporate body or in a communications consultancy
- Agility and enthusiasm to stretch across business areas and topics as requirements demand
- Sound understanding of social media and ability to advise on appropriate content amplification approach
- Ability to solve problems using sound judgment and analysis, often with tight deadlines
- Exceptional project management, organisation and co-ordination skills
- Excellent communication skills - written and oral
- Ability to operate effectively independently, within a team and to lead others
- Significant commercial focus, external awareness of market/industry/regulatory issues

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
