Job description
The Planning & Intelligence Manager (PIM) - Operations is a new role in the Operational Planning team, which will hold a key focus of managing the Operational Planner team, giving the role a strong people-focused element. As a line manager for a large team, it will require previous line-management experience and the ability to have a good comprehension of Heathrow People policies.
In addition to line managing the team, the PIM will support the Operational Planning Lead in delivering projects that focus on improving our communication with APOC and help define what the product of the Operational Capacity & Planning team looks like. The role will require looking at existing processes and driving projects to make them more efficient and productive.
This role will also join the duty PIM roster which means that they will work have to occasionally work on the weekend, and through this get an opportunity to learn about the operational planning areas the team looks after.

- Line-Management duty for the Operational Planners, ensuring good people practice and support.
- Reviewing, amending, and republishing plans to reflect schedule changes, intelligence, or other changes.
- Complex stakeholder management: through our APOC areas, ensuring good communication to all areas across Heathrow.
- Providing Project deliverance, with strong communication skills to assist in change delivery.
- Ensuring that relevant teams have access to the information they need to make decisions on the day and in the days approaching the operation.
- Challenging current working processes, and planning standards, and seeking improvements.
- Ability to conduct and appreciate basic time series analysis, simple forecasting and capable of conveying these results effectively.
- Line-Management Experience with ability to engage, steer and support a large team.
- Strong influencing, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Comprehension of the processes and methodology behind forecasting, operational planning, passenger insights and performance KPIs.
- Understands the use of Power BI for reporting and visualising data.
- Ability to make decisions in the face of ambiguity.
- Excellent internal and external stakeholder relationship-building skills.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Knowledge and comprehension of Heathrow’s People's Policies
- Aviation knowledge or experience is desirable but not essential
