Job description
Grade 7: £35,308-£42,155 per annum
Fixed term contract for 12 months
Saïd Business School is one of Europe’s leading business schools, set within one of the world’s most iconic universities. Our focus is on tackling complex, world-scale challenges as we prepare business leaders for the task of making the world a better and more equitable place.
The School’s Central Marketing & Communications (CM&C) team are responsible for building and safeguarding the brand and reputation of the School. We do this by showcasing and communicating the excellence and impact of our faculty’s research; by promoting and sharing the success stories of our students and alumni; and by highlighting the outstanding programmes and teaching Oxford Saïd provides.
We are looking for a full time (fixed term 12 months) Media Manager to join our team. This is a key role, responsible for our media profile across international, national, regional and trade media. You will be working with multiple teams across the School, identifying, developing and drafting news stories to sell into media, publish on our website and promote on our social media platforms. You will also manage incoming media enquiries in a timely and professional manner, including media interview bids. This role is both operational, with responsibility for creating, publishing and managing content, and strategic, working with both the director and head of communications on forward planning and the development of the School’s media strategy.
You will report into the Head of Communications and be supported by a Communications Executive, who works across external and internal communications. The Central Marketing and Communications Team is a small and collaborative team where all members work closely with each other and provide cover for colleagues when necessary.
The right candidate must have proven experience of working successfully in a media team and/or as journalist, with excellent written skills and the ability to manage a broad range of demanding stakeholders. This is a busy, sometimes pressured environment and you will need to work supportively and collaboratively in a matrixed structure. It is essential the right candidate also strongly identifies with and embodies our core values - transformational, respectful, entrepreneurial, collaborative, purposeful and excellence.
