The Talent Set are excited to be working with an amazing health membership association who are looking for a Media and Communications Manager for a 3 month contract role with an immediate start date.
The post holder will lead the Media and Communications team to ensure successful delivery of both proactive and reactive media mentions, through shaping the media and communication strategies to guide the team to maximise all possible potentials.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategically plan, research, create content and evaluate campaigns, working closely with the Head of External Affairs, the Director of Strategic Communications and relevant Officers
- Support the Policy & Campaigns team ensuring all priorities are considered and included in all proactive and reactive communications and support the team in the delivery or moving forward their priorities in both proactive and reactive communications.
- Commission, analyse and produce reports on data research - from polls to surveys, working closely with the Data Analysis and Research Manager
- Lead in the 2023 media strategy, from shaping the strategy with the Director of Strategic Communications and Head of External Affairs, to create the materials and organising media briefing events, to manage the maintenance of the strategy to ensure its sustainability.
- Lead in the delivery of high quality proactive and reactive external communications across the Devolved Nations of the UK, including responding to media enquiries, preparing spokespeople for media interviews, writing attention grabbing press releases, statements, reactive commentary, writing op-eds, and creating content for digital communications, including writing, and posting across social media platforms, creating graphics and digital articles, whilst always being mindful of the strategic priorities. Manage the Senior Media and Communications Officer (News) to ensure delivering of high-quality reactive outputs
- Develop and maintain good relationships with spokesperson, journalists, and other relevant stakeholders.
Person specification:
- Experienced journalist/ experience of journalism actively working in the media or a comparative high-profile organisation.
- Significant experience of working in a press office and with the media
- Proven success at devising and implementing proactive and reactive media stories and ideas
- Proven ability to commission and accurately analyses polls, surveys, FOIs, and scientific research and communicate clearly the findings to the desired audience
- Proven successful experience shaping, then leading communication strategies.
- Experience of health or mental health policy.
What's on offer:
This an initial 3 month contract, offering a day rate of £200-£250 (Inside IR35) . This is a hybrid role with 2 days a week spent at their central London office.
