Job description
Core Purpose
You will report to the Head of Distillery Operations. You will enable the scheduled production of whisky spirit and by-products at the specified quality and at optimised cost through 24/7 support of Distillery Operations. Maintain Distillery site assets according to the requirements of the company asset integrity framework, including all the applicable regulatory requirements. You will need to be flexible, in terms of time, participation in activities out-with normal scope of job, participation in Health and Safety initiatives, projects and workouts throughout the entire facility in the interest of the company.

Internal - Operations, Mechanical Maintenance, Process Automation, Utilises, SHE team, Bottling Facility Personnel (support function), Site Management.
External – Suppliers, Service Providers, Regulatory Authorities.
Work Content (Responsibilities)

- Provide mechanical maintenance support to Production facility as per schedules. Duties include (but are not limited to): reacting promptly to breakdowns and inspection, equipment overhauls and carrying out scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance. Actively use CMMS System.
- Installation and commissioning of new equipment/machinery, including pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves, pipework etc.
- Installing, inspecting and repairing equipment in (ATEX/DSEAR) hazardous areas.
- Maintain service records for plant and equipment, including monitoring and reporting on equipment running conditions.
- Assessment and application of safe systems of work for all tasks – RAMS, LOTO, Permit to Work etc.
- Contribute to incident investigations and equipment failure root cause analysis to design out issues and improve maintenance practices.
- Using knowledge of plant, participate in HAZOPs, MoC, SIL Assessments etc.
- Coordination with Management to ensure spare parts availability and specification; active participant in obsolescence review.
- Successfully complete all necessary training and competency requirements (job competency, SHE and regulatory).
- Meet company targets and help drive continuous improvement in operational efficiencies and SHE.
- Complete all administrative and data collection tasks as required.
- Carry out all work in a hygienic manner and contribute to the hygienic condition of the site.
- Contribute to SOP development.
- Provide 24/7 cover as part of the distillery maintenance team.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Demonstrate competence in inspection and maintenance of:
➢ process pumps (mainly centrifugal and progressive cavity type),
➢ solids handling equipment (screw conveyors, elevators, mills, filter units),
➢ other large rotating equipment (agitator/mixers, centrifugal fans, dryers)
➢ process piping
➢ steam boilers & associated equipment
➢ air compressors & associated equipment
- Prior experience of working as a Mechanical Technician within a COMAH or high-risk facility.
- Demonstrate competence in application/management of safe systems of work through all work tasks – including COSHH, RAMS, safe isolation of plant (LOTO), PTW (including confined space entry/rescue)
- PC ‘literate’ including Microsoft word, excel, e-mail, and prior CMMS use.
DESIRABLE
- Brewing/Spirit Distilling experience
- Experience working with potential flammable/explosive atmospheres (ATEX/DSEAR)
- IEC61508/61511 working knowledge
- Forklift truck licence
- IPAF Certificate
