Job description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter at a renowned Defence company. You'll be joining an established team of experienced Mechanics on a 6-month rolling contract.
The company specialises in the conversion of commercial vehicles to armoured vehicles with military applications.
Due to the nature of the business, we are looking for highly experienced mechanically biases engineering and technicians that will be able to dismantle vehicles and reassemble with bespoke modifications to military grade.
Responsibilities:
- Disassembly of commercial vehicles
- Building bespoke vehicles
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Use a variety of hand and bench tools (torque wrenches etc.)
- Work as part of a team or on your own using initiative
Requirements:
- Previous experience in engineering or automotive background
- Experience carrying out maintenance and repair whilst following engineering
drawings
- Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence or equivalent is desired
Working the hours of Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm and Fridays: 7:30am - 2pm
As this organisation works on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, all candidates will need to hold sole British Citizenship and will need to be able to pass a self-funded basic DBS (criminal record check)
The role has been deemed inside IR-35.
