IAE is looking to appoint a Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprentice within our Engineering department based at our Head Quarters in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.

This role would suit a candidate who wishes to gain a Mechanical Engineering degree within a working environment, gaining real world experience alongside gaining an Industry recognised qualification.

The successful candidate will embark onto a Level 6 Design & Development Apprenticeship and will receive training in the following:

· Computer Aided Design (CAD)

· Solidworks

· The ability to design, develop, produce and test new and existing products

· Project management from initial concepts through to product implementation

· Engineering change requests, both scoping and implementation

· Market research

· Carry out both FEA and physical tests on prototypes

· Work alongside Senior Mechanical Design Engineers

· Work with fabricators within a production environment during prototype development

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a minimum of three A levels at grade C or above including Maths and a relevant scientific/technical subject or equivalent, and at least four GCSEs including Maths, English and a relevant scientific/technical subject at C/4 or above. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a willingness to work towards the apprenticeship and show the right aptitude and commitment.

Typical duration of the apprenticeship is 60 Months, which includes a weeklong residential development programme in the Peak District. During the programme you will take part in a number of indoor and outdoor activities to help you develop both personally and professionally.

The above position will be rewarded with a permanent contract, progressive rates of pay, 32 days paid holidays per year plus loyalty days (up to 34 days), auto-enrolment into our pension scheme which includes 5% employer contributions and employee life insurance. Other benefits include company sick pay, an optional company saving scheme, and a cycle-to-work scheme. All employees are encouraged to develop within their role, therefore additional training will be given where necessary.

The successful candidate will work 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 – 15:30 Friday.
