We have an amazing opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice to join our Cement, Lime and Packed Products Team at our West Thurrock site, close to the River Thames and the QE2 Bridge/Dartford Tunnel. We are located close to Lakeside Shopping Centre, and commutable from Grays, Northfleet, Purfleet, Aveley, Chafford Hundred and surrounding areas

Role Responsibility
As part of the Cement, Lime & Packed division of Tarmac you will play an important role in keeping UK infrastructure moving, contributing towards the successful production cementitious products. An exciting role where you can see the outputs of your hard work all around you (quite literally!)
As a Mechanical Apprentice s typical day will include:-
Attending college to study the academic and practical elements of the role.
Plenty of chance for some hands-on experience on site, where you can make your mark and become a vital part of the team, actively participating in breakdowns and planned maintenance work on the equipment and assets at our Cement Plant.
Life on site will involve working both inside and outside, on heavy industry machinery. It won’t always be glamorous and sometimes you might find yourself in a dusty or confined environment. However, your safety and health is our number one priority and full protective clothing and equipment is provided. Your colleagues are there to help and look out for each other, and safety is everyone’s responsibility.
Our Apprentice programme is a great opportunity for you to develop skills and knowledge for the future and to bring us some fresh perspectives and ideas. The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:
Must have GCSEs A-C or numbered equivalent (9-4) in both English and Maths
A practical and technical aptitude, and able to demonstrate a genuine interest in engineering, technology or science.
Skills:
Enthusiastic about starting a career in the building materials industry!
Passionate about working safely.
A team player.
Willing to learn and develop.
Resilience.
A desire to get stuck in and have variety of a hands on role with time working in the office too.
