Position Title: Mechanical Engineer -
Location: Peachtree Corners, GA
Overview:
Siemens’ Electronics R&D design team, headquartered in Peachtree Corners, GA, has an opening for a Designer/Drafter. The position includes support for released products as well as design tasks for new products. The successful candidate will have experience and interest in mechanical design, documentation control, and product support. In addition, we are looking for someone interested in growing with the team as our product line evolves into IoT connected devices that control the power grid.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and verify the design of a variety of complex products, processes, and components that are related to the field of mechanical engineering. Review and approve related inputs such as complex drawings and specifications prepared by technical team members. Work with engineers from other disciplines to ensure quality and success of final products.
- Create 3D models and detailed drawings.
- Host design reviews and follow documentation releasing procedures.
- Create, modify, and debug electronic circuit breaker fixture development.
- Take ownership of ECR and ECN processes within the engineering development group.
- Support prototype builds and engineering testing as needed within the development groups.
Requirements:
Education: Technical school or above in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 0-2 years of experience in mechanical engineering/design and product development
- Knowledge on a broad range of mechanical engineering related topics. Examples include thermoset/thermoplastic designs, sheet metal design and development, material selection and common manufacturing processes.
- Experience with computer aided design software. Experience using Pro-E or Creo and its added functionality is desired.
- Good hands-on skills, capable of making quick prototypes and building protype samples.
- In depth understanding documentation and revision processes.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability of work in cross-functional teams with colleagues from different backgrounds.
