Mechanical Engineer
Salary: £31,931 - £34,709 or £39,748 - £44,166 per annum (dependent on skills and experience). A Specialist Allowance of up to £5,000 per annum is also available for this role

Hours: Full time or Part-time (minimum 30 hours per week)

Discover the science your skills can enable by bringing your engineering experience to our Central Laser Facility. The facility is one of the world’s leading laser centres, providing scientists mainly from the UK and continental Europe with access to an unparalleled range of pioneering laser technology.
As a Mechanical Engineer at this facility, depending on your experience, you will be responsible for either supporting or leading the design of the following:
· vacuum systems and hardware used in high vacuum
· high purity gas systems and gas infrastructure
· motion systems for large optics
· chambers and structures
We are looking for someone with:
· a HNC or HND, or equivalent degree (BEng in mechanical engineering) along with experience working in an engineering field
· experience working in a mechanical engineering or multi-disciplinary engineering environment
· to be considered for the higher salary, you should have a MEng in mechanical engineering along with extensive experience working in an engineering field & evidence of responsibility such as budgets, management, risk and safety
