Our specially selected team of engineers, software developers and scientists develop algorithms, software integrated prototypes and solutions for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Manned and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Mission Planning, and Situational Awareness.
MORSE is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong problem-solving skills and an aptitude in electro-mechanical systems. In this role you will actively participate in all aspects of a project from concept generation through deployment of the system. The ideal candidate will have a creative mind grounded in engineering principals and a passion for bringing their designs to life!
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Mechanical Engineer at MORSE, you will contribute to this team by designing, building and testing components of novel aerial vehicles and other integrated electromechanical systems. You will lead the design, prototyping and test activities as owner of a mechanical system or sub-system. MORSE is looking for experienced candidates that are able to be take responsibility for a design, identify and analyze problems or design deficiencies, and design solutions based on analytics. The candidate should be able to design complex mechanical systems and have experience ensuring communication and integration with electrical and software systems. The Mechanical Engineer at MORSE will design systems and conduct experiments to innovate designs and deliver technical documentation, including CAD models and engineering drawings, to support design activities and customer deliverables.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
5+ years of experience in engineering design and development
Ability to work effectively with electrical and software engineers to ensure integration of multi-disciplinary systems
Proficient in application of mechanical design principals to substantiate design decisions and project requirements
Familiar with manufacturing methods and material selection
Demonstrated creative thinking skills to develop comprehensive design solutions
Familiar with various machine design elements and "mechatronics" systems
Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD software
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Experience in development and communication of system requirements
Experience with hands-on prototyping and design verification of electro-mechanical systems
Knowledge of electronic actuators and motors desired
Experience performing structural finite element analysis (FEA) or thermal FEA desired
