About the Job:
Kent's Houston office is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support local/regional projects with demonstrated engineering experience. The individual shall specify, research, engineer, analyze, evaluate, and document mechanical equipment to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. The candidate must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
Your Responsibilities:
Prepare and review mechanical equipment engineering specifications.- Prepare and/or review datasheets for mechanical equipment.
- Prepare material requisitions for quote (MRQ), technical bid evaluations (TBE), material requisitions for purchase (MRP) and review vendor’s documentation for mechanical equipment.
- Prepare hand and/or computer aided mechanical calculations as required.
- Support process engineers with the selection of materials of construction for piping and equipment.
- Prepare/review piping specifications.
- Provide mechanical input to line list, specialty items list and equipment list.
- Provide assistance for the resolution of engineering and design problems.
Your Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:
Qualifications/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering plus 10+ years of experience.- P.E. licensed desired but not mandatory.
- Strong background with rotating equipment (pumps, blowers, turbines, compressors).
- Experience with other disciplines and/or construction of oil and gas plant equipment desirable.
- Familiar with commonly used mechanical engineering standards and codes including but not limited to ASME BPVC, API standards, PIP standards, ASME B31.3 and B31.8 and commonly used mechanical engineering software.
- Working knowledge of equipment inspection and testing.
- Working knowledge of vessels, pipe, rotating equipment, material handling equipment
- Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis, CAESAR II or other, a plus.
- Working knowledge of mechanical material handling equipment (optical sorting, extruders, silos, conveyors, shakers, hoppers, grinders, etc.) a plus
- Basic oil and gas upstream, midstream and downstream knowledge required.
Skills Requirement:
Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word).- Working knowledge of the software applicable to their expertise (e.g. Compress, Caesar II, NozzlePro, HTRI, etc.).
- Experience with AutoCAD or other design software a plus.
