Mechanical Engineer – Southern Region
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager
Based in: Remote role supporting SEUK’s Flex Operation in the South East & South West of England. This consist of 17 power generation sites.

Position overview:
Working as the Southern Mechanical Engineer you will report to the RME and be responsible for providing
engineering support in the monitoring, operation, and maintenance of the power generation assets across
the Flex business within your region.
You will also be required to undertake small projects across the UK generation sites as directed by the
RME.
You will be expected to demonstrate the appropriate behaviours and commitment towards health and
safety to ensure we maintain our first-class safety culture.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead outages and engineering projects as directed by the RME.
- Provide technical expertise to support the operations department.
- Participate in Reliability and Criticality studies.
- Carry out engineering audits of operational sites.
- Provide training to operational staff on Engineering Issues.
- Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner and identify areas for improvement
- Review the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimise downtime.
- Build up a knowledge base with regards to the mechanical integrity associated with the specific asset area.
- Interact with other departments both internally and externally when required.
- Support and comply with Company Policies as documented in the Conditions of Employment Policies Manual.
- Champion compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, and statutory requirements.
- Investigative fault finding and repairs to breakdown situations on mechanical equipment.
Essential
- An Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or HNC/HND with engineering experience is required.
- Operational mechanical engineering experience gained from a field-based role is essential.
- Experience of maintaining and operating gas reciprocating engines would be beneficial.
- Competency with Microsoft Office, Excel and Word is required
- Good report writing, communication and meeting skills.
- High concern for standards.
- Experience gained directly from the power generation or process industries is preferred
- A working knowledge of PSSR, PUWER & LOLER legislation is essential.
- Excellent knowledge of Industry British Standards and Relevant Design Codes.
- A full UK driving licence is required.
- Right to work in the UK is essential.
