Fieldpiece is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team! The ideal candidate is curious – a tinkerer, experimenter, creator - with strong critical thinking and problem skills and 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience with electromechanical / mechatronic devices. You’ll manage your own projects from idea to production by collaborating with teammates and suppliers that bring your product to life.

What You'll Do
- Research, analyze, design, develop, test, and validate new products based on customer insights and market feasibility studies.
- Establish project objectives, key deliverables, technical design, and work breakdown and manage through all phases within established timeframes and budget.
- Document requirements and product specifications using tools such as SolidWorks.
- Conduct and/or review the testing of new designs, interpret test data, and recommend corrective actions with the team and suppliers to ensure optimum functionality and quality.
- Spend time with customers to understand what they need and deliver solutions.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field – Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Physics or related.
- 5+ years of product engineering and development experience.
- Curious, tenacious, entrepreneurial, collaborative nature that is focused on the customer.
- Experience using RCCA, FMEA, Fault Trees, Ishikawa Fish Bone diagrams.
- Experience with tools such as SolidWorks, LabView, and others.
- Knowledge of electromechanical / mechatronic devices in the areas of psychrometrics, thermodynamics, HVAC, heat transfer, cooling, materials, measurement systems, etc. is a big plus.
Due to the highly collaborative and hands-on nature of this position, you must spend 3-4 days/week on-site in our Orange, CA office.

The California base annual salary range for this role is currently $110,000 - $135,000 plus bonus. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
