Job description
At DB Cargo UK, we're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to provide support and guidance on engineering issues to support improvements in DB Cargo UK operations.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be ensuring that we are delivering safe, effective, and efficient operations on the UK rail network.
We're looking for someone with a successful track record of leading and driving engineering projects and tasks to maximise the product/service and make a positive contribution to the business both financially and in terms of product development.
Investigate performance issues identified in the operation of the DB Cargo traction & rolling stock fleet and identify most economic solutions whilst maintaining safety standards.
Provide advice and expert guidance on the implementation of defined solutions in order to ensure vehicle utilisation is maximised.
Represent DB Cargo or other parties as directed, at relevant rail industry meetings.
Manage allocated budgets within specified and agreed limits.
Provide support to the business processes for monitoring and auditing both DB Cargo and contractors’ facilities for the maintenance and overhaul of vehicles and components to ensure that the required standards are being met.
Produce concise, unambiguous reports and presentations in Word, Excel and PowerPoint as required.
Provide expert support to Procurement & Logistics in the procurement of equipment, components and services as required.
Degree in an mechanical engineering discipline and a minimum of 5 years in a management/technical role, or HND and a minimum of 8 years in a engineering management/technical role (or working towards these qualifications)
Established general management skills, including financial and safety management.
