The candidate must reside in one of the following cities: Tampa, Orlando, Dallas, Austin, or Houston.
Works as a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering team member to support the transition of Robotics designs into mass production. This role will support Mechanical Design Engineering at our Site Installation teams. The role focuses on supporting Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, Design for Manufacturability, and Design for Test. You will be involved with the launch of robots into the Symbotic system at customer sites, supporting all aspects of Symbotic Mobile Robotics hardware.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Robotics and Machinery Automation, Fabrication, and Quality.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as Die Cast, Extrusions, Injection Molding, Thermo Forming, and Machining
- Working knowledge of GD&T and other drawing standards
- Demonstrated skills in Root Cause and Corrective Action processes, 8D methodologies, Fishbone Analysis, Lean problem-solving techniques.
- Proficient with and demonstrated skills using SolidWorks for fabricated and sheet metal parts.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Available to travel within North America 75% Time.
Essential functions:
- Be an active contributor to the “NPI” new product introduction team to ensure a smooth transition from engineering to ramp for the scale to our customer sites.
- Assist mechanical design to address Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly in support of high-volume fabrication and procurement.
- Communicate and learn to identify critical quality specifications between Design Engineering and Supply Base
- Support NPI and Site Installation teams to review mechanical issues and perform root cause and corrective actions.
- Utilize SolidWorks to update drawings and facilitate a rapid turnaround of detailed prints.
- Apply your Engineering Skills in the design of and recommend fixtures, tools, and processes to enable the manufacturing of Symbotic product
- Developed knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, raw materials, processes, and other physical sciences to enhance operations and manufacturing.
- Uses mechanical components, standards, and mechanical best practices.
- Ability to learn Change Management software and execute Bill of Materials reviews and Engineering Changes
- Ability to assemble mechanical fixturing, utilize hand tools, machine tools,
- Ability to properly use calipers, micrometers, scales, and other measuring equipment
- Able to work simultaneously on a variety of projects
- Prototyping and Machining Experience (Vertical Mill, Drill Press, Rapid Prototype, Lathe, etc.) a plus
