As a Mechanical Engineer at Buehler ITW, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and commercialization of Buehler’s portfolio of automated test & measurement equipment. You will collaborate with project teams to deliver new product development projects or improvements to current products.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Operations and Quality teams to develop product requirements and design concepts that meet customer needs. Develop complete product designs utilizing 3D solid modeling software
- Create test procedures, oversee the testing, and analyze the results. Iterate on the design to achieve desired outcomes.
- Partner with the Supply Chain team to select appropriate manufacturing processes and vendors that meet cost & quality targets.
- Complete product design risk assessments (FMEA and safety risk assessments).
- Provide engineering support for commercialized products and implement solutions to solve manufacturing or field issues.
- Create, maintain, and release engineering drawings and documentation using engineering change notice process.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years design experience with electromechanical equipment
- Strong problem solving and design troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with New Product Development processes including stage gates and/or prototype-to-production process
- Excellent communication, analytical, and prioritization skills
- Experience with systems that utilize mechanisms, motors, controls, clutches, brakes and gearing
- Experience designing for manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, heat treating, die castings, sand castings, vacuum castings, sheet metal, powdered metal, and plastic molding
- Located within the Chicagoland area for daily on-site collaboration at our Lake Bluff, IL facility (weekly flexiablity to work from home as well)
