Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer - Conveyors and Screens
Location: Ideally Cumbria, but remote working considered
Job Type: Permanent
Role and Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be an integral part of our client's team, focusing on the design and optimization of conveyors and screens.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and modelling conveyors and screens, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Conducting feasibility studies, simulations, and prototyping to evaluate design concepts and ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including project managers, fabricators, and suppliers, to ensure successful integration and delivery of mechanical systems.
- Performing detailed engineering calculations, stress analysis, and failure mode analysis to ensure the structural integrity and safety of the designed systems.
- Developing accurate technical drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
- Supporting the procurement process by liaising with vendors, reviewing supplier documentation, and conducting technical evaluations.
- Providing technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases of projects.
- Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations throughout the design and fabrication process.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
- Strong expertise in designing conveyors and screens, with a focus on structural steelwork.
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
- Familiarity with engineering standards and codes related to the industry.
- Experience in conducting engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis using relevant software tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to propose innovative solutions.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with the capability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in project management and knowledge of project lifecycle processes is a plus.
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and quality regulations within the industry.
