You will be a self-starter, organised, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build, develop and maintain good working relationships with people in a wide variety of organisations and to be able to deal with sensitive and difficult matters with tact and diplomacy.
The Mayor’s Personal Assistant is an important role principally managing the Mayor's diary, but also responsible for oversight of civic procedures and maintaining civic standards. The role will involve:
- Reviewing and responding to the online bookings made for the Mayor’s attendance at events in a courteous and timely manner
- Organising a weekly diary for the Mayor
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Organising key events such as the Mayor’s Annual Dinner
- Budgetary responsibility for the service ensuring all corporate financial targets are met
- Managing incoming correspondence and queries to the Mayor
- Keeping up-to-date with national and local civic issues, best practice and guidance issued by the National Association of Civic Officers, and maintaining the highest standards in respect of civic life at the Council
This role also works closely with the other staff at the Council in providing an excellent service to the Mayor.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
