About the Role
As a Maths Tutor for GCSE programmes, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality and engaging maths courses. With a primary objective of supporting learners in their numeracy development, you will provide comprehensive teaching, learning, guidance, and support, enabling learners to achieve their learning goals and improve their maths proficiency.
Your responsibilities include planning and delivering teaching sessions aligned with curriculum requirements and learner needs, assessing abilities to identify areas for improvement, and tailoring teaching methods and resources accordingly. Additionally, you will monitor progress, provide feedback, set, and mark assignments, collaborate with team members, establish a positive learning environment, communicate with stakeholders, and stay updated on the latest developments in maths education.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum Level 5 Maths Specialist qualification and hold a teaching qualification such as Cert Ed, PGCE, or DTLLS, or be committed to obtaining one. Proven experience in teaching or tutoring maths, specifically at the GCSE and/or Functional Skills level, is essential. We are looking for someone who has successfully worked with learners from diverse backgrounds and varying abilities, demonstrating the ability to adapt teaching methodologies and strategies to support a wide range of learners.
A strong knowledge of the GCSE maths curriculum and assessment requirements is crucial. The successful candidate should have an excellent understanding of assessment practices and methods for effectively tracking learner progress. In addition, knowledge of Safeguarding, GDPR, and Equality and Diversity in education is required to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are vital for building rapport with learners and creating a positive learning atmosphere. The ideal candidate should be patient, adaptable, and able to differentiate teaching and learning to meet individual learner needs. Strong organisational and time-management skills are necessary to plan and deliver sessions effectively. Our ideal candidate will also be proficient in utilising technology and resources to enhance teaching and learning experiences for learners.
