Job description
We would like to appoint Maternity Support Workers (MSW) to assist qualified midwives in the care of women and babies in our low and high risk birth units.
The post holders will carry out area specific tasks within the haven birthing suite and central delivery suite, these tasks will include; infant feeding support, clinical observations, phlebotomy including Newborn Blood Spot Test and maternal screening tests and supporting the women and midwives throughout labour, birth and the initial post natal period.
The post holders will act as members of the team and will work under the supervision and guidance of registered midwives and other professional staff.
The post holders will report to the band 7 team leader., providing a 24 hours, 365 day service that includes days, nights and weekends.
To succeed in this role, you will possess:

For a band 3 role, we would expect that the post holder will have experience in healthcare. We would however consider applicants without maternity experience as full training and support will be given.
We are committed to education and development and invest in an education team which supports learning and practice development across the department. Learning and development opportunities currently in place are as follows:

- Live Team Skills Drills
- Access to self-directed E-learning programmes
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.
