Job description
1 x FTE 37 HPW : Fixed term for a period of 18 months with the strong possibility of extension.
Do you have the lived experience to help us design a culturally appropriate Maternity Equity Hub for Black, Asian and Mixed Ethnicity communities?
- The opportunity
Barnardo's, Cambridgeshire Peterborough and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind and Raham Project are working in partnership to reduce maternal health inequalities and help Black, Asian, and Mixed ethnicities women to have better pregnancy and maternal outcomes. As a partnership, we aim to do this through the development of an exciting and ground-breaking Maternity Equity Hub, that will be co-designed with lived experienced communities.
This hub seeks to improve health outcomes working with Black, Asian, and Mixed ethnicities women to co-design culturally sensitive, trauma informed and rights-based programmes of support, including all aspects of the perinatal experience and wider support post birth and into the early years i.e., before, during and after a child is born, up to the age of 2 years old.
- How are we going to do this?
We are seeking an innovative and passionate individual(s) who care deeply about changing lives and specifically, improving maternal and life outcomes for local Black, Asian and racialised communities. Given the critical importance of foundations for this service being rooted in anti-racist practice, you will identify as Black, Asian, or be of Mixed ethnicity and join the project team to lead our Peer Connectors, helping us take this incredibly important work forward.
You and the Peer Connectors will use your own lived experience and work closely with local Black, Asian and Mixed ethnicities communities, as well as our key strategic partners (CPSL Mind and The Raham Project), to design a highly accessible antenatal package of support that is focused on cultural safety, trauma informed practice and rights-based messages. This will include roll out and testing.
You will play a leading role in enabling the team to go on to support the delivery of antenatal programmes and provide 1:1 and group-based support in relevant community settings, for Black, Asian and Mixed ethnicities women, fathers / birth partners and their families, that focuses on supporting and sustaining mental health and wellbeing, whilst also nurturing positive attachments between carers and their young child(ren), during the first 1001 days.
