What You’ve Accomplished
You have completed a BS in Materials Science & Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related engineering degree. You may have also obtained an advanced degree in similar fields. You have strong technical problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, have worked in an engineering role for at least 0-2 years and are ready to join Framatome and help deliver clean, safe energy and advance nuclear technology.

This full-time role is about making an impact on people’s lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As an Early Career Materials Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Materials and Thermal Mechanics Business Line in the Fuel Business Unit which is responsible for a broad range of activities including fuel rod and control component design, materials development, manufacturing support, and fuel performance code development. The engineering activities are coordinated with other Framatome fuel engineering departments both locally and worldwide. You will be responsible for supporting the design, development, manufacturing, and licensing of metallic, ceramic, and composite materials. Typical assignments include:
- Define testing programs to evaluate and collect data on new materials.
- Evaluate data, develop behavior and performance models, support incorporation of data into computer analysis codes.
- Support internal and supplier manufacturing efforts, establishing requirements and collaborating on improvements.
- Participate in and support interfaces with customer and regulatory authorities to obtain regulatory approval of new materials, codes, and methods.
- Prepare and review design specifications, calculation files, test requirements and associated reports.

Your Total Rewards Package
The range of base salary for the position is between $61,000 - $79,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
