Can you help us to attract, retain and create a unique Macmillan experience for the thousands of volunteers that play a key role in delivering our organisational strategy?
About the role
Volunteers are at the heart of Macmillan. They directly support people living with cancer, play a powerful role in our fundraising, represent, and speak on behalf of the organisation and help shape organisational direction.
In this role you will support the delivery of our volunteer marketing strategy, working cross-organisationally to enable the execution of clear marketing messages and initiatives to attract volunteers in line with organisational priorities. You’ll also support volunteer-involving teams in their communications to help deliver a first-rate volunteer experience, from the moment someone joins us and throughout their time with us.
We’re a highly collaborative team that likes to involve a wide range of staff and volunteers in what we do to get the best outcome. You’ll need to be comfortable working in this way, as well as having the confidence to work independently when needed and to meet deadlines.
You’ll join the team at an exciting time. We have recently launched a sector-leading Volunteer Management platform, grown the capacity of our marketing function, and put in place new planning processes to enable us to deliver on Macmillan’s ambitious plan to significantly grow its volunteer base and the impact of volunteering.
We’re doing this within our Volunteering Division, but also engaging with colleagues from right across the organisation to help them involve volunteers in their areas of work. So this will give you experience of working with, and exposure to opportunities within, other functions in Macmillan.
About you
We’re looking for someone with broad experience in Marketing and Communications, as you will work across a range of channels including direct marketing, social media and advertising. You’ll need to have excellent personal communication skills, as well as the ability to generate engaging content for a range of audiences and to manage a range of creative suppliers, all with an eye for detail.
You’ll be naturally driven to perform to your best, and you’ll use that drive to help us develop impact measures, report on them regularly and identify areas for growth and improvement. But it is your strong planning and project management skills, and your ability to work with a range of stakeholders and to inspire them with your passion for marketing, that will really set you apart from the crowd.
Location
The role can be based in our London office, dual location between London and home, or fully home-based (with occasional travel required to London office and other locations). The advertised salary includes a London-weighting, which is applicable to the London and dual location options only.
