Marketing Officer

We're looking for a positive and energetic individual who is passionate about marketing. You’ll be experienced at working on multi-channel campaigns, including writing attention-grabbing copy, creating the most engaging emails, targeting paid digital adverts at different customer groups, and communicating effectively with both current and potential audiences.
The Marketing Team, reporting to the Head of Marketing, plays a vital shared role in the brand positioning and audience development work that is at the heart of a thriving creative organisation that aims to deliver extraordinary experiences every day. Your work will drive vital campaigns that develop audience engagement and ticket sales, whilst ensuring our brand and ethos is at the heart of everything we do.
Main Purpose of the Job
Opera North is seeking a Marketing Officer to play a vital role within the busy Audiences Department.
The Marketing Team is at the heart of a thriving creative organisation that aims to deliver extraordinary experiences every day. You'll be part of a team that ensures the delivery of marketing activity aimed at maximising income through ticket sales, developing audiences, raising wider awareness of Opera North and contributing to the growth and development of the organisation.
The role requires a flexible, pro-active and enthusiastic attitude and an individual who can work well autonomously whilst also being an active member of the wider team, including taking part in team meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and implement detailed and intelligent multi-channel marketing plans, and other strategic initiatives that are focused on achieving campaign objectives within the allotted budget.
- Regularly monitor campaign statistics, delivering reporting on key indicators and working to continually improve results.
- Track, analyse and continually improve upon paid digital marketing campaigns to build online engagement.
- Develop a proactive approach towards measuring actual against budgeted costs and taking early and decisive actions to improve any poor sales performance.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns whilst striving to continuously improve results.
- Write influential and fluent copy for both print and digital communications aimed at specific audience groups.
- Develop innovative approaches towards developing audiences and exploiting all new opportunities and ideas to exceed sales targets in all venues.
- Cultivate positive relations and partnerships working with external stakeholders proposing ways in which the company can meet their, and their audience's, needs more effectively and considering ideas for joint working.
- Manage service provider relationships to ensure best possible pricing and customer service including printers, mailing houses, media buyers and agencies.
- Liaise with Opera North’s design team to deliver print and digital marketing materials.
- By utilising our CRM system (Spektrix), you'll help to drive ticket sales based on intelligent use of customer data by undertaking regular segmentation, analysing customer behaviour, preparing data sets, and reporting.
- Participating in internal marketing meetings and contributing to the broader work of the department.
Skills, Knowledge and Personal Attributes
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Professional marketing experience in an assistant or officer level position.
- Experience of delivering audience focused multi-channel marketing campaigns, particularly in the theatre, opera or performing arts sector.
- Experience of effective budget management in order to optimise ROI.
- Digital awareness and understanding of paid digital advertising.
- An understanding of marketing theory and practice, alongside knowledge of KPIs and tracking and measuring results.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to write persuasive copy for different audiences.
- The ability to work independently, whilst remaining a key part of the team.
- Strong organisational skills, with excellent time management, enabling you to work across a wide range of projects to a high standard.
- A calm and reliable approach to busy situations. You'll be solutions focused and adaptable with an ability to see problems as opportunities.
- The ability to assess and continually improve campaigns in order to reach targets.
- Excellent IT/Microsoft skills, including Excel. Experience of ticketing / CRM systems and email marketing.
- Accuracy and excellent attention to detail, with excellent proofing skills.
- The ability to liaise appropriately at all levels of the organisation, and with a range of external parties in order to establish good working relationships.

Terms and Conditions
Contract Type
This is a permanent role.
Salary
£23,000 - £25,000 per annum.
Hours of Work
7 hours a day (plus 1 hour break). Core hours 10am - 3pm. There is flexibility for those with caring responsibilities. Some evening and weekend work required with informal lieu time offered during busy periods.
Flexible Working
Role will be combination of in office/home working based at Howard Opera Centre, LS1 6PA
Holiday Entitlement
33 days annually (incl. 8 statutory holidays).
