Job description

What you’ll be doing

This is an exciting opportunity to join our award-winning and dynamic Communications team, who work across Orion’s wide range of imprints encompassing a range of publishing from some of the industry’s biggest brand fiction authors, exciting debuts, literary fiction and non-fiction, celebrity-led titles, music, lifestyle, cookery and memoir.

This role will be responsible for planning, creating and delivering standout marketing campaigns for a wide list of authors. From writing and communicating marketing plans, building reader awareness and engaging booksellers, planning and implementing paid and organic social media campaigns, creating eye-catching media campaigns and creatives, and analysing and reporting on campaign performance, you’ll play a crucial role in every step of a book’s journey – from acquisition to publication and beyond.

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for an experienced marketer with a proven track record of delivering creative, consumer-focused and sales-driving marketing campaigns across fiction and non-fiction.

Alongside proven marketing experience, our ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is full of ideas. Strong copywriting, digital marketing and communication skills are essential – you’ll also be able to demonstrate excellent budget management and outstanding attention to detail as well as bringing initiative, creativity, and passion to the role. You’ll understand how to reach different consumers with targeted messaging and initiatives and have experience working with third parties and influencers on partnerships to broaden the reach of your campaigns. The ability to multi-task, work calmly under pressure and be a strong team player are also vital.

What we offer

Our staff are our greatest asset and our benefits reflect this. In addition to 28 days annual leave days per year + bank holidays, we have an extensive list of benefits that include: a wide-ranging training library, development programmes including mentoring, Cycle to Work vouchers, Private Medical Insurance, eye care vouchers, up to 70% off book purchases, a charity book shelf, 2 community days per year, many employee networks to join, summer hours (finishing at 1pm on Fridays during the summer months!), season ticket loans, rent deposit loans, generous pension schemes and much more!

This role can be based at our London office, or at any of our new regional offices in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield or Bristol, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.

Our Commitment

Hachette employs people on the basis of their abilities. We aim to attract and develop talent from a base as broad as the world of readers we want to reach, with a wide and representative range of age, faith, disability, race, gender, sexuality and socio-economic, regional and cultural backgrounds.

If you are shortlisted and need us to make any adjustments to help you attend for interview, please let us know.

In 2021 we won the Publisher of the Year award at the British Book Awards, and our award-winning Communications team has a proud track record of creating high-impact, creative, sales-driving campaigns to help bring our books to readers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a multi-disciplined, award-winning team responsible for a wide variety of publishing. You’d be working in a creative and dynamic environment, utilising a wide variety of essential marketing skills to reach the widest possible readership.
