Marketing Intern

We're looking for a motivated and organised individual who is passionate about marketing and keen to learn on the job. You'll be part of a team that ensures the delivery of marketing activity aimed at maximising income through ticket sales, developing audiences, raising wider awareness of Opera North and contributing to the growth and development of the organisation.
You'll provide vital support to the team, working across a range of areas of marketing. By the end of your time with us, you'll have the skills, knowledge and confidence to take the lead on a campaign.
Main Purpose of the Job
Opera North is seeking an organised and motivated Marketing Intern to play a vital role within the busy Audiences Department. The role is designed to develop skills across the marketing mix, increase confidence and ensure you gain practical experience of working in a thriving arts organisation that aims to deliver extraordinary experiences every day.
You'll be part of a team that ensures the delivery of marketing activity aimed at maximising income through ticket sales, developing audiences, raising wider awareness of Opera North and contributing to the growth and development of the organisation.
The role requires a flexible, pro-active and enthusiastic attitude.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Marketing team on the day-to-day implementation of marketing plans, assisting in co-ordinating campaigns and fulfilling administrative tasks.
- Regularly track sales and engagement with marketing campaign activity, measuring the effectiveness of our campaigns and sharing data with the wider team.
- Proof-read email and print campaigns, ensuring adherence to Opera North's brand guidelines.
- Support the delivery of our digital marketing strategy, including emails and paid digital campaigns.
- Together with the wider team, collaborate with a range of external parties including tour venues to deliver marketing campaigns that drive ticket sales and raise brand awareness.
- Undertake research and contribute directly to season planning meetings.
- Liaise with service providers to ensure best possible pricing and customer service. This will include printers, mailing houses, media buyers and agencies.
- Attend, contribute to, and take minutes for team meetings.
- Liaise with Opera North's design team to deliver print and digital marketing materials, including briefing design jobs, proofing, and providing clear feedback.
- Attend training where required - we'll teach you how to use our email marketing software (DotDigital), CRM system (Spektrix) and much more!
- Other marketing and general administrative tasks as required.

Terms and Conditions
Contract Type
This is a part-time, 12 month fixed-term role.
We are looking for an intern to work a three day (21 hour) or four day (28 hour) equivalent week, based upon agreement with the successful applicant.
Salary
£19,000 pro rata.

A standard working day at Opera North is 7 hours a day (plus 1 hour break). Core hours 10am - 3pm. There is flexibility for those with caring responsibilities. Some evening and weekend work may be required with informal lieu time offered during busy periods.
Flexible Working
Role will be combination of in office/home working based at Howard Opera Centre, LS1 6PA
Holiday Entitlement
20 days annually (plus statutory holidays) based on four days per week, or 15 days annually (plus statutory holidays) based on three days per week.
