Marketing Executive

About the role
We have an exciting role in our Marketing Team to support our Ice Sports Team.
With a focus on driving marketing activity for the National Ice Centre, you will support the ice sports team in achieving their visitor and revenue targets and support the Marketing Team in driving marketing strategies for the Motorpoint Arena and Nottingham Panthers.
You will also be responsible for writing high quality, accurate and engaging communications, both internal and external, for a range of audiences from media to ticket buyers and staff.
This role demands an organised and proactive individual who has a positive attitude, thrives on managing multiple projects at the same time and who can incorporate evening and weekend working into their schedule when required.
You will be supported by experienced managers in the Marketing & Comms Team, colleagues in IT working on data analysis and website development, and you will work closely with successful managers and teams who will openly welcome your professional creativity, engagement with their challenges and your solutions.

The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is the largest entertainment venue in the East Midlands, showcasing the biggest events in music, comedy, and sport from Peter Kay to Ed Sheeran, England Netball to the World Ice Hockey Championships, with over 500,000 customers a year.
The National Ice Centre (NIC) sits within the same complex and hosts a variety of ice sports for clubs, the public, beginners and even Olympians, trading 18 hours a day, every day, with over 250,000 visitors a year.

About the Marketing & Communications Team
The team support all areas of the business, which includes ice skating and arena shows, but also promoting hospitality experiences, our meetings & event spaces, ice sports shops and many merchandising partner venues and festivals around the UK and Ireland.
The workload is varied, and the team works in a very busy and fast-paced environment. No two days are the same – today may be organising an ice sports photo shoot with our residential clubs, tomorrow may be launching our new restaurant menu or helping to put a Ricky Gervais show on sale.
The Team regularly has to dynamically balance pro-active plans and workloads with reactive tasks and short-notice periods of national Arena tours for which deadlines cannot slip and which can create challenging conflicts for workload prioritisation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the Marketing and Communications Manager with the development and implementation of the annual marketing plan in line with company objectives, ensuring all activity is delivered with 100% accuracy and within the relevant time and budget constraints.
2. Lead on the marketing activity for the National Ice Centre, plan and implement skating marketing campaigns ensuring all activity is targeted towards the right audience and evaluated. This includes working closely with the Ice Sports Team to understand their needs and ensure all relevant internal parties are fully briefed on activity and offers.
3. Maintain the National Ice Centre website ensuring all content is accurate and up to date, develop and implement email marketing campaigns, liaise with third parties to ensure activities are promoted, co-ordinate print and distribution and brief the Graphic Designer on National Ice Centre design needs.
4. Lead on the planning and delivery of the National Ice Centre’s social media channels. Develop and implement integrated strategies across organic and paid social media and work with regional influencers and media to increase reach and attract new customers.
5. Book photographers and videographers and provide them with clear briefs to ensure the National Ice Centre image and video library remains fresh.
6. Liaise with promoters, creating marketing plans for a range of Motorpoint Arena ice hockey events ensuring marketing activity is booked, implemented, targeted towards the right audiences, and evaluated.
7. Work closely with the Nottingham Panthers Marketing Team and coordinate all venue marketing activity for the Panthers.
8. Manage the leaflet and poster distribution around the building, ensuring all sites are well maintained and kept up to date.
9. Lead on promotional events for the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena. This includes coordinating all activity and attending freshers’ fairs and outdoor events to promote our offering to students and the public.
10. Support the Marketing Team with Motorpoint Arena marketing including digital screen management, event day admin and social media.
11. Support the wider business to develop the functionality of the National Ice Centre booking system, ensuring the marketing capabilities of the system are fully exploited to improve the customer journey and increase revenue.
12. Ensure the department marketing plans are kept up-to-date, and ensure all internal marketing, financial and operational procedures are adhered to.
13. Undertake all other duties which may be allocated from time to time, to support the department and wider business.
Qualifications
Marketing qualification desirable
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Sports, leisure or event marketing experience is highly desirable
- An excellent understanding of the full marketing mix
- Experience of developing, managing, and evaluating traditional and digital marketing campaigns
- Excellent knowledge of all social media platforms, including TikTok, and well-versed in social media management and reporting
- Experience of working under pressure, managing a diverse workload and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines
- Experience of building successful relationships with a wide range of internal and external customers
- Excellent attention to detail, proof reading and copywriting skills essential
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with ability to deal with people at all levels
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends where needed to satisfy business needs
