About us
ShareSoc - the pre-eminent association for UK private investors is looking for a Marketing & Digital Manager. ShareSoc is a not-for-profit membership organisation created by investors for investors, championing the interests of private investors and providing support when things go wrong.
- At least 15% of the UK stock market is owned by millions of private investors and ShareSoc provides their collective voice: protecting their interests, lobbying and campaigning, providing educational, networking and information services to private investors across the UK. Our Patron is Lord Lee of Trafford, one of the UK’s leading private investors and authors.
- ShareSoc membership has grown by over 20% pa in recent years and is often in the press due to its many campaigns to protect investors (Beaufort Securities, Sirius Minerals Plc and Woodford Funds).
- Investors join for various reasons, including the fact that we campaign, lobby and champion their interests, as well as the products and benefits we provide e.g., informative newsletters, digital blogs, news, company reports, educational events, networking opportunities and both online and in-person investor-meets-company events.
- There is huge scope to expand membership and to extend the influence of the organisation having grown steadily for 11 years since its founding.
Objective: Promote ShareSoc, its brands and services offer to drive increased customer acquisition, reduced churn and improve value perception in both future and existing members.
Focus: Identify target audiences, in whatever channel or wherever they may be. Using all forms of digital media, create content for different self-initiated campaigns designed to foster organic word of mouth growth at low cost. Create and manage analytics and KPIs to improve choice and execution of campaigns. Where appropriate, negotiate and execute partnerships with 3rd parties, Bulletin Boards and social media channels.
Duties:
- Create impactful marketing campaigns with engaging multimedia content across all relevant marketing channels that support our brand values and promote our services to investors.
- Leverage Digital Content: Identify and target the most productive social media channels and industry bulletin boards for Member recruitment and design/implement promotional campaigns to suit.
- Grow Membership: Create and execute Member acquisition and upgrade programmes on a regular cycle across multiple media channels.
- Improve Web Presence: Update and maintain ShareSoc entries in online reference sources such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Google, Wikipedia, Trustpilot etc.
- Drive Engagement on Social Media: Manage responses to and proactively initiate interesting and appropriate dialogue with social media followers and private investors
- Improve SEO: Improve organic search performance using SEO reporting/analysis tools and adjusting our website content/structure accordingly.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor our social media performance using appropriate analysis tools and provide reports and improvement recommendations to ShareSoc management.
- Membership Communications: Creation and implementation of improved member journeys throughout lifecycle, planning and creating communications at key life stages. Reinforcing the ShareSoc value proposition, highlighting valuable services and content.
- FinFluencers: Research and select appropriate Influencers for specific campaign goals, gather their insights, ensure they align with strategy, draft contracts, provide content and plan content on social calendar.
- Partners: Research and identify potential partner organisations (eg: Stockopedia, Investors Chronicle, Financial Times, Shares Magazine, Boring Money…etc) and initiate and implement marketing agreements where appropriate and possible.
- Surveys / Polls: Design, implement and analyse occasional member surveys (e.g., Woodford campaign supporters, Member investment portfolios, Member satisfaction, Net Promoter Scores, etc) and run regular social media polls on relevant issues.
- Awards: Identify relevant awards categories that ShareSoc should apply for, manage and collate applications.
- Review Investor shows: Review current shows exhibited at (Mello, Master Investor, London Investor Show, UK Investor Show, MoneyWeek Summit) and identify additional potential events – negotiate contra-marketing deals.
- Marketing materials: ensure marketing material (literature, banner posters...) is relevant and fully communicates agreed messaging.
Experience:
You will be an experienced marketeer, with good digital experience and native-level English. A self-starter capable of operating with limited supervision and guidance. You will have in-depth experience in:-
- B2C digital marketing in all facets: Branding, PR, Comms etc
- Promoting content through social media channels – Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube, Instagram, etc…
- Content creation: copywriting, writing social media captions, creating audio/visual content
- Social media and SEO performance analysis using industry standard tools e.g., Hootsuite and Semrush
- Market research: design and execution
- Managing influencer and partner relationships
- Maintaining Wordpress websites
- Online surveys - using standard survey tools
- Digital marketing techniques (PPC, SEO, HTML, CSS)
- Marketing in the financial services sector and/or personal experience of investing in the stock market
Remuneration : Part time, contract basis. Rates: £15 to £20 per hour
Working Hours: Flexible, driven by tasks and projects. Estimated average of c. 8-12 hours per week but will flex up/down as workload varies. Potential to increase hours based on results
