Marketing Assistant - Chernoff Thompson Architects

(Downtown Vancouver Office)

Compensation: Salary to Commensurate with Experience and Education Level.

Employment type: In-office (full-time) position

The Marketing team at Chernoff Thompson Architects is seeking a new member to assist with pursuing various opportunities and managing multiple initiatives. This position will play a direct role in the firm's success by collaborating on competitive proposals and communication efforts that highlight our expertise and qualifications. You will work with consultants, stakeholders, Partners, Management, and other marketing team members.

We are looking for a team member with experience in marketing and communications that can manage and prioritize multiple initiatives, work diligently in a deadline-oriented environment, has excellent communication and time management skills, and is a team player who thrives in a small team.

Experience and skills in digital design and environmental graphics is advantageous. This may facilitate opportunities to exercise some creative muscles and work with the Studio team on aspects of various projects.

About our Firm:

We are an established Architectural firm that focuses on providing top-level service to clients in Vancouver, British Columbia, and across North America. We focus on providing detailed design responses to technology-focused clients, biotech private companies, all levels of government, and advanced educational institutions.

Our office is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. We have an open studio environment where all levels of staff, including all partners, work in the same space. Our 42 years of an open office policy encourages vibrant dialogue among the principals, designers, and technical staff during the design process. It also promotes the exchange of design ideas and shared technical support among different teams.

We have a diverse, progressive, and innovative team of approximately 45 persons. Our studio staff speak 15 languages and originate from all over the globe. They bring a diverse architectural and technical background to our office. All are committed to design excellence and providing highly focused service to our Clients.

You will work directly with the Stakeholders, Associates and Project Managers of the firm, and as part of an overall Administrative Support and Marketing team to support the Studio.

You can expect the following responsibilities:

  • Prospects – searching for, identifying, and sharing upcoming prospects and pursuits.
  • RFP Responses – working with other marketing team members to prepare high-quality detailed proposal responses for timely submission, primarily using Adobe InDesign.
  • General Marketing – working with other marketing team members to prepare/update marketing collateral and maintaining information in our marketing database.
  • Support the management of our website and social media platforms.

There may be the opportunity for the following (influenced by skills and interest):

  • Graphic design projects
  • Composition of creative reports and presentations
  • Content creation and management

You will bring the following skills and experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in communications or marketing-related positions.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (with an emphasis on InDesign and Photoshop experience) and Microsoft Office.
  • Graphic design experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in writing and conversing in English.
  • Strong analytical, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in prioritizing, multi-tasking, and meeting deadlines in high-pressure environments.
  • An ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • An ability to work self-directed and as part of a team.
  • An ability to learn architectural industry-related nomenclature and communication styles.
  • Very strong accuracy and an ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Note that this is not an Architectural Design position, although interest in Architecture and working with the Architectural Team on graphic-related projects is possible.
