Job description
Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is one of The University of Manchester’s cultural institutions. The organisation is responsible for engagement with the science, heritage & culture of Jodrell Bank and the wider University of Manchester, engaging visitors through a year-round visitor experience via exhibitions, grounds, events and festivals. We were established in 2011 and typically welcome around 160,000 visitors a year.
Jodrell Bank was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019 in recognition of its internationally significant heritage, science and cultural impact. The Centre saw the opening of its new First Light Pavilion in June 2022. This new Pavilion will broaden the Centre’s offer by consolidating its heritage and cultural engagement alongside its science engagement.
We are now seeking to appoint a Marketing and Communication Manager to lead on our marketing, sales and communication strategy and its delivery.
The post-holder will develop informed, innovative and consistent internal and external marketing and communication strategies to promote Jodrell Bank, enabling the organisation to meet ambitious visitor and financial targets, building the national and international reputation of this World Heritage site.
They will be responsible for devising and coordinating a wide range of marketing, communications and engagement campaigns and projects, as well as overseeing the planning and day-to-day running of the organisation’s digital and social communications channels.
We welcome applications from people who have marketing and communications experience in a management capacity, ideally within a comparable sector, and has a strong track-record and proven ability in the development of marketing and communication strategies and delivery of operational plans.
The post-holder will report directly to the Deputy Director and will join the Senior Management Team in delivering the Centre’s strategic objectives. As the Centre receives no core funding and operates as a social enterprise, it’s important that applicants are able to achieve audience engagement and revenue generation targets.
We need a team player who has a ‘can do’ attitude and who is unruffled under pressure and can meet deadlines. Above all, we need someone with great people skills. This is an exciting time for the Centre – and this role will shape some ground-breaking initiatives in the coming years. Come and join us!
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
