This is an exciting opportunity to position World Animal Protection as the leading organisation on animal welfare in China and identify how best to engage audiences across the country on this important issue. You will implement and drive a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to build World Animal Protection’s reputation and brand in China across a range of marketing channels, as well as to motivate and mobilise key audiences to support our priority campaigns and take meaningful action for animals, translating the strategy for China into digital outputs.

Under the guidance of Global Director of Marketing and Communication and China Country Director, the Communications and Marketing Manager will work closely with local campaign managers and the global digital and communications teams to plan out the digital delivery for each local campaign.

World Animal Protection is the global voice for animal welfare, with more than 70 years’ experience campaigning for a world where animals live free from cruelty and suffering.
We have offices in 12 countries and work across 47 countries. We collaborate with local communities, the private sector, civil society and governments to change animals’ lives for the better.

Our goal is to change the way the world works to end animal cruelty and suffering for both wild and farmed animals. Through our global food system strategy, we will end factory farming and create a humane and sustainable food system, that puts animals first. By transforming the broken systems that fuel exploitation and commodification, we will give wild animals the right to a wildlife. Our work to protect animals will play a vital role in solving the climate emergency, the public health crisis and the devastation of natural habitats.

What will you be doing?
  • Brand positioning for World Animal Protection in China
  • Managing marketing and communications actions in China, including digital marketing and development, brand, content and media
  • Implementation of China communication strategies.
  • Management of communications team and function in the China office.
  • Accountable for delivering digital best practice and translating the communication and marketing strategy onto the digital channels to drive conversions and engagement.
  • Reporting and budget management.



Who are we looking for?
  • Demonstrated experience in communications brand and digital marketing and optimising campaigns
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic brainstorming, campaign development for digital, creative brief development and creative execution
  • Experience of building an active database and driving insights into audiences
  • Experience in working with an international organisation
  • Demonstrated experience managing a team
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work with tight timelines on multiple campaigns
  • Experience in working with an international organisation
  • Experience in managing agencies and vendors
  • Proven experience developing and delivering successful marketing strategies and plans
  • Proven experience generating proactive media and managing media issues effectively across social and traditional channels
  • Understanding of brand strategy and management
  • Previous experience using digital channels such as websites, social media and email marketing
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in both Chinese and English
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills
  • Strong awareness of global and regional socio-economic, political and environmental issues would be desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Must be proactive and a creative thinker
