S&P Global Commodity InsightsThe Role: Team Leader, Global Carbon Markets and Pricing Research
The Team:
The role leads an international team covering the growing and vital role of carbon pricing and markets – both compliance and voluntary - as a tool for needed decarbonization and for engaging it as a traded commodity in its own right.
The research includes regular analysis of the more advanced and established environmental markets as well as preliminary assessment of supply, demand and pricing for nascent efforts, that are earlier in the development stage. The role will coordinate with group leadership to deliver on existing deliverables as well as helping develop and execute on a vision for providing insights on the expanding use of carbon pricing - produce both real time content responding to market circumstances – and deeper, thought leadership and impact pieces.

Such understanding helps support colleagues across Commodity Insights S&P Global Commodity Insights in other commodities, all seeking to understand how the Energy Transition is impacting their own markets and to provide our clients with the tools needs to thrive amongst the change.

Responsibilities:
Manage and enable a best-in-class team providing timely and insightful research, ensure the global team is aligned to produce world-class analysis and forecasting of Carbon markets, aligned across S&P Commodity Insights
Regularly engage customers and market participants more generally to share key insights and gather feedback to continuously ensure high quality output and relevance of the product
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum 10 years’ experience working with or researching carbon and/or environmental markets globally, combining strong policy analysis capabilities with quantitative skills and reasoning.
Master’s degree, or higher, in areas of engineering, economics, environmental science, public policy, business.
Familiarity with broader commodity markets, particularly within the energy sector Integrated cross-commodity analysis ideal
Experience creating forecast or models demonstrating high levels of competence using Excel. Python programming preferred
Experience of leading high-performing, global teams remotely
Proven skills at clear writing, effective visualization, and ability to present complex analysis clearly at high-level engagements and in conferences
Given the size of our broader organization the ability to reach out to create and facilitate collaborative efforts between different teams and divisions at different levels of the organization structure is essential
