Our Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) Finance Placements team were established to help our clients overcome significant challenges, where there could be a potential knowledge/skillset gap or lack of resource. They work directly with Finance teams to help them deliver business critical projects. These can range from more simple issues e.g. year end accounting to working with firms going through more complex issues e.g. IPOs and M&A. The FAAS team sits within our Advisory (Deals & Business Consulting) division and work closely with a range of clients across different industry sectors. Location:
We are looking for this candidate to work with our teams across the UK however you would ideally be based in our Birmingham office working on a hybrid model.
A look into the role:
If you enjoy working on a wide-reaching range of projects that will help businesses and communities flourish, you’ll fit right in.
Specifically, you will become responsible for the delivery of several projects which are already underway. You will be expected to undertake the delivery and relationship management for these clients and projects. This includes:
- Weekly or fortnightly client check-ins with the client to check our secondees are performing
- Weekly or fortnightly secondee check-ins to check on their wellbeing and help with any issues
- Finding additional resource for the client should they require it
- Completing all internal and external documentation regarding onboarding new secondees on to the project – including IR35 determinations, contractor contracts, and contracts with the client
- Build long term relationships with clients by holding periodic calls with them after our initial engagement has ended to find out what’s on their agenda and whether Grant Thornton can assist them
- Build long term relationships with our team members who work through the Agile Talent Community by having regular calls with them to get to know them, their skill set and their work preferences
- Provide weekly delivery updates to the divisional Associate Directors
Knowing you’re right for us
Joining us as a Manager, it would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.
- Ideally you will be fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/equivalent) and be passionate about supporting, advising and helping businesses achieve their potential.
- Ideally you will have gained your experience in a practice environment e.g. The preparation of financial statements or accounts under IFRS, External Audit etc...
- Financial process and internal systems review and improvement.
- Project management.
- Delivery of statutory accounts preparation and consolidations.
- Preparation of year end 'audit packs' and helping clients to be ready for audit.
- Support in transitioning to new accounting standards and financial reporting changes.
