Job description
The Senior Marketing Analyst is responsible for providing key market and business insights to inform the Medtronic Diabetes business’ overall strategy. This will require the ability to gather, organize and analyze relevant market data and information systematically using logic and reason to differentiate symptoms from causes and to identify and solve problems and inform strategic business decisions. Success in this role is dependent on the ability to interact with and influence senior management, as well as the ability to analyze data to drive conclusions and actionable recommendations.
Ideal candidates are energized by data-driven problem solving. Motivated by the questions “What If” and “Why” and enjoy digging into the results to understand what happened, what worked, and what needs improvement. Enjoys understanding how actions today impact the future and has a passion for building relationships with cross-functional partners and influencing decision-making.
Medtronic Diabetes is based in Northridge, CA. Preference for this position to be based in Northridge, CA or Minneapolis, MN. Remote within the US may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.

A Day in the Life
- Market Modeling: Develop a comprehensive market model accounting for market dynamics, product features and capabilities, competitive landscape, and global expansion. Work with cross-functional teams to incorporate key data points into market models. Maintains market models, verifies the accuracy of the data, and acts as a liaison to the business.
- Strategic Planning: Provide quantitative substantiation to guide upstream product development, downstream commercialization, and business development decisions
- Competitive Intelligence: Monitor direct competitors and identify indirect and disruptive threats to overall business goals. Provide regular updates to cross-functional stakeholders to ensure internal awareness of competitive threats
- Attend major medical meetings, sales meetings, and meet with customers and field representatives regularly to gather information, identify needs, and assess opportunities to help drive marketing programs.
- Anticipate, identify, and resolve high-level problems associated with project execution.
- Motivate and influence cross-functional team members in achievement of goals.
- Manage other high-impact projects and duties as assigned.
- Minimal travel
- Bachelors degree required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial analysis/research, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years'
Nice to Have
- Forecasting and competitive intelligence experience
- Financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting/demand planning experience
- Experience in the development of a wide range of data inputs/sources through primary and secondary research and refining inputs into meaningful insights conveyed in standardized business reporting.
- Project management skills
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, influence and presentation skills.
- Experience working in a highly matrixed environment
- Experience in a high performing marketing or strategic planning environment demanding a sophisticated approach to understanding market trends and impacts, including the ability to translate scenarios for how future markets and landscapes will evolve.
- Experience working in the medical device and healthcare industry.
- Evidence of having successfully developed and/or utilized business intelligence tools and findings to provide key information which influenced management decisions in a meaningful way.
- Strategic agility and structured thinking, intellectual curiosity
- Proven ability to build and/or participate in intelligence networks across an organization, including scoping and leading projects with cross-business unit teams
- Strong negotiation and influence management skills
- In-depth understanding of current and future diabetes therapies
- Self-starter comfortable taking initiative
- Strategic and tactical marketing skills
- Strong team orientation
- Ability to work in an ambiguous environment
- Collaborative approach, familiarity with matrix organizations and how to successfully work cross-functionally to improve the acquisition and leveraging of market intelligence.
- Must be a hands-on subject matter expert, focused on results and execution
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, monitor, and execute marketing projects
- Global marketing experience
