Job description
The Project Officer will be an integral member of the Economy and Place Team in the delivery of our green marine ambitions. Having successfully secured over £15m in government funding to further our marine decarbonisation projects we are recruiting a project lead for this exciting work.
This role will focus on the delivery of a wide range of marine sector projects under the theme of “Marine Economy and Decarbonisation” within our successful UK Shared Prosperity Fund proposals, including:
Leading the replacement power train project for the Dart Lower Ferry and Salcombe water taxis
Studies into the environmental impact of the sector and opportunities to decarbonise marine activities
Establishing the economic baseline data for the sector across the District
Overseeing the installation of charging points for marine vessels
We do not need a sector expert, but a project manager with sector interest and experience. You will work with other specialists within the wider team to ensure that activities and outcomes are delivered on time and as set out in the corporate strategies.
You will provide liaison with external stakeholders / groups, and will lead a Marine Economy and Decarbonisation group which will monitor and report on the delivery of the projects both internally and to the Government’s Levelling-Up Department.
The role will also be responsible for supporting the development of funding bids to deliver activities which will further support the local marine sector. This will help to sustain the Council’s marine sector focused activities beyond the 2024/25 financial year and build upon the success of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund programme.
