Job description
A Marine Engineer required to join our small but busy team at Mallaig Boatyard. The boatyard provides repair and maintenance services to fishing and work boats up and down the West Coast of Scotland.
Position offered on a full time permanent basis, minimum 40 hours per week, 08:30-17:00, Monday to Friday, with the ability to work overtime.
As a marine Engineer you should be able to perform diagnostics and repairs of all types of marine engines, transmissions, drives, generators whilst also:
- Overhaul or replace engine components such as generators, distributors, starters, bilge pumps, electrical and fuel systems.
- Rebuilds / rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels, install and repair heaters, waste systems, and electronic equipment.
- Perform mechanical repair work.
The successful applicant should also have:
· Recognised qualification,
· Previous experience in Marine Engineering,
· Experience and knowledge of fishing vessels would be advantageous,
· To be able to read and interpret engineering instruction,
· Liaise proactively with providers, colleagues and management,
· Self-motivated, working with minimal supervision,
· Attention to detail,
· To be able to work independently and as part of a team,
· Excellent timekeeping and work ethic,
· Full UK driving licence,
